Australian all-rounder James Faulkner has come out to deny the reports that recently surfaced on the internet of him being gay. Faulker had posted a picture on Instagram, where the Aussie cricketer seemed, by all accounts having a good birthday meal with his mother and his boyfriend. However, Faulker later clarified the person to be his best friend and not boyfriend. Cricket Australia, as a result, had to come out and apologize for any unintended offence caused due to the post.
The caption on Faulkner’s post read, “Birthday dinner with the boyfriend @robjubbsta and my mother @roslyn_carol_faulkner #togetherfor5years,”
However, Faulker later denied the claims of him being gay as he made another post stating “There seems to be a misunderstanding about my post from last night, I am not gay, however it has been fantastic to see the support from and for the LBGT community. Let’s never forget love is love, however @robjubbsta is just a great friend. Last night marked five years of being housemates! Good on everyone for being so supportive.”
Cricket Australia also came out and made a statement on the whole issue as the statement read that the Board does not consider the social commentary by James Faulker this morning to be a joke, and neither does James.
They added that Faulkner and the board are supportive of the LGBT community and understand how tough it is for one to come out in the open regarding it.
