The IPL 2020 season, the 13th edition of the cash-rich cricket league has its 53rd match on 1st November when Chennai Super Kings will take on Kings XI Punjab at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Chennai Super Kings
Despite having their worst IPL season yet, CSK have redeemed themselves with two straight wins. They secured a victory against KKR on Thursday, chasing down the target of 173 with a brilliant 72-off-53 from Gaikwad and Jadeja’s heroics at the dead overs as well as impressive bowling figures. Ngidi picked two wickets, with Santner and Karn Sharma both securing one each.
Full Squad: KM Asif, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Sam Curran, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Josh Hazlewood, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, Kedar Jadhav, Narayan Jagadeesan (wk), Monu Kumar, Lungi Ngidi, Ambati Rayudu, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Mitchell Santner, Karn Sharma, Shardul Thakur, Murali Vijay, Shane Watson.
Kings XI Punjab
A redeemed KXIP’s streak of five wins was halted against RR on Friday as their bowlers failed to defend their 185 total. Starting with a 46 from the skipper KL Rahul, Chris Gayle showcased his natural form with a staggering 63-ball-99, plus Pooran providing some hits as well. However, the impressive batting performance became ineffective due to costly bowling figures, with only Ravi Bishnoi having economy rate under 10.
Full squad: KL Rahul (c & wk), Mohammed Shami, Karun Nair, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz Khan, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Deepak Hooda, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Jordan, James Neesham, Tajinder Singh, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Murugan Ashwin, Harpreet Brar, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jagadeesha Suchith, Ravi Bishnoi, Hardus Viljoen, Darshan Nalkande, Arshdeep Singh, Sheldon Cottrell, Ishan Porel.
Waging odds: Chennai Super Kings (2.05) vs Kings XI Punjab (1.72)
Chennai Super Kings are priced at 2.05 and are the underdogs. Betting ₹100 on them will earn you ₹205 if they come out as winners.
Kings XI Punjab are the favourites and are priced at 1.72 meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹172.
In their previous faceoff in the current IPL, CSK won by 10 wickets. KXIP’s playoff entry is dependent on NRR and needless to say a win is an utter necessity for them. However, the in-form Gayle will be bolstering their odds of snatching a victory. Any victory for CSK, on the other hand, are now consolations.
It will be a victory for Kings XI Punjab.
