While the global pandemic novel COVID-19 has hit the entire world pretty hard, the situation is getting back in its zone slowly. Sports events have also started taking place behind close doors and Sri Lanka too has been hosting their Lanka Premier League (LPL). Meanwhile, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who took part in the tournament – has returned to Pakistan from Sri Lanka.
He had to leave the Lanka Premier League 2020 – to stay with his ailing daughter, who has been hospitalized. Afridi took to Twitter and shared the news about his departure from Sri Lanka to attend to a “personal emergency”. However, he also added that he will return to join his Galle Gladiators franchise “after the situation is handled”.
Unfortunately I have a personal emergency to attend to back home. I will return to join back my team at LPL immediately after the situation is handled. All the best.

Later, the official Twitter handle of Lanka Premier League has revealed the reason of his departure. They shared that Afridi’s daughter has been admitted to hospital and that was the reason he had to return to his home.
Do you know the reason for @SAfridiOfficial 's return to the country?

However, if Shahid Afridi returns and joins his team to play further in the tournament, he might not have to undergo the mandatory 3-day quarantine and he only has to stay in a short quarantine period and COVID-19 Tests as well. Notably, Afridi got affected by the virus earlier this year and tests on arrival to Sri Lanka as well where it was seen that he had antibodies for the contagious virus in his body.
However, Afridi came in the limelight recently after he was seen on video rebuffing Afghanistan pacer Naveen ul Haq after his battle with Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Amir during the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Mohammad Amir of the Gladiators and Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq was seen in battle on the field where they were trying to get into each other’s face after a game. Gladiators captain Shahid Afridi was not very happy with the Kandy Tuskers’ bowler’s behaviour after the latter got involved in an argument with Gladiators’ left-arm seamer. Afridi was also seen exchanging a few words with Tuskers’ Naveen-ul-Haq as well.
