Washington Sundar welcomes new family member named 'Gabba'

Young Indian bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar has impressed everyone with his brilliant all-round show recently. He stayed back as a net bowler after the T20I series against Australia and eventually made his debut for India in the fourth and final Test of India's Test series against Australia at the Gabba as the visitors were struggling with injury concerns.

Howveer, he recently made an unexpected move. Washington Sundar posted a picture on social media and introduced his pet to the world. While it was quite common, the surprising was his pet's name. The 21-year-old has shared the adorable picture with a nice caption where he and wrote, “Love is a four-legged word. World, meet Gabba!”

Sundar hadn't played any first-class cricket since 2017, but he accustomed to the foreign conditions quickly, showcasing his ability with the bat when he made a game-changing partnership with Shardul Thakur when India were in trouble in their first innings. Sundar's quickfire knock alongside another star player Rishabh Pant helped India win the Gabba Test too. The off-spinner was doing well with the ball too as he removed big wickets, including that of Steve Smith, in the Brisbane Test as well.

“I was there for a months after the ODI series, it gave me an amazing opportunity to bowl on Australian soil and to improve my skillsets as well. Definitely have to thank the management for that. I got to know a day or two before the Gabba Test [that I was in the playing XI],” Sundar had told India Today.

He got the reward too as he was included in the star-studded India squad that took on England at home. He smashed a crucial 85 in the first Test in Chennai and then steadied the ship with another match-winning knockoff an unbeaten 94 in the fourth and final Test as India won the series 3-1 and reached the final of the inaugural World Test Championship which will be played in June in England where they will play against New Zealand as well.
