Washington Sundar expresses gratitude to Anand Mahindra for the Mahindra Thar gift

India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Washington Sundar on Tuesday (April 6) expressed his gratitude to industrialist Anand Mahindra after he gifted SUV to the young heroes of India’s 2-1 triumph in Test series in Australia. After being bowled out for 36 and without the services of their skipper Virat Kohli for the last three Tests, Team India battled a plethora of injuries but youngsters like Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, T. Natarajan and Shardul Thakur starred in a famous series win.

The final match at the Gabba saw India field a bowling attack where Mohammed Siraj, who debuted for country in Tests in the second match of the series, was the leader of the pack. As India pulled off a remarkable win in Brisbane, which is considered Australia's fortress, Anand Mahindra promised to gift SUVs to six new stars.

Keeping his promise of gifting the expensive Thar SUV to the young superstars of the Indian cricket team, business tycoon Anand Mahindra received a big thank you from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Washington Sundar on Tuesday. Expressing gratitude to the chairperson of the Mahindra Group, Washington shared a sweet post after receiving a Mahindra Thar vehicle.  

Regarded as the next big thing in franchise cricket, Washington made a dream Test debut for the Virat Kohli-less side in the high-profile Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Washington played an instrumental role in India's historic series triumph on Australian soil. Following India's memorable win over Australia in the tour Down Under, industrialist Mahindra had vowed to gift SUVs to the six Indian youngsters for their superlative efforts in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

On Tuesday, RCB all-rounder Sundar joined the bandwagon as the ace cricketer accepted the special gift from the Mahindra chairperson. "Filled with immense gratitude to Shri Anand Mahindra for this wonderful Gift & all the support, encouragement that you provide us youngsters. I’m certain that your continued support will motivate many to take up a sport and bring many more laurels to our country! Many thanks and best regards to you sir," Sundar captioned his post on Instagram. 

On the work front, Washington is gearing up for the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Kohli-led RCB. The batting all-rounder was retained by the Bangalore-based franchise for the 2021 season of the cash-rich league. Kohli-led RCB will kickstart their IPL 2021 against defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
