The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to begin on April 9 and all the teams have started preparing for it as well where Mumbai Indians were no different. And, Mumbai Indians' captain Rohit Sharma has recently joined the camp and entered the team’s bio-bubble on Monday as well, soon after the end of India's ODI series against England in Pune and his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira have also with him.
The defending champions have already started their training on Tuesday and on the very next day, they took to social media and shared a sweet video of Rohit’s daughter Samaira. In the video, the little one can be seen wearing a helmet and then gesturing a mini pull-shot when Rohit's wife Ritika asks her to show how Rohit Sharma hits a six. She can also be seen cheering for the Mumbai-based team as well.
Mumbai Indians will take on Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the series opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 9. Apart from Rohit, Hardik and Krunal Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav have also joined the team and entered the Mumbai Indians bio-secure bubble on Monday. Notably, they were all part of the Indian ODI team which took on England and they all played crucial roles in India’s 2-1 series win over England in Pune as well.
The new entrant Suryakumar Yadav, who made his India debut in the T20I series against England and played two crucial knocks in the fourth and fifth T20Is, impressed everyone with his batting. He was also picked in the ODI squad, but he did not get the chance to play as well. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya also played well with the bat where he smashed 64 runs in the third ODI and his brother Krunal Pandya scored a half-century on his ODI debut in the first match of the three-match ODI series as well.
Mumbai Indians started training for IPL 2021 in Mumbai, where Chris Lynn, Arjun Tendulkar and Jayant Yadav among the players who were in action already. Jasprit Bumrah, who was out of national duty due to his marriage with the Sports Presenter Sanjana Ganeshan, has joined the team and he is currently going through the mandatory quarantine period as well. The fifth-time IPL title winner will try for another IPL title in their name this season as well.
