While the halfway point of the current season approaches, Klopp and his men celebrate Christmas unbeaten and at the summit of the Prem with 48 points from 18 games, four ahead of second placed Manchester City with 44 and six ahead of third placed Tottenham who have 42. Despite all these exploits, Klopp still insists that Chelsea and Arsenal should not be left behind when considering the possible title contenders of the current season, with 20 games still left to play.

“Nobody should feel safe” in the Premier League title race, he said. “No one should feel out of the race. No decision is made, why should it be?” he added, after Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said that Liverpool and Manchester City were title favorites.

“I saw the game against Everton and it was really impressive how Tottenham did,” said Klopp. “The same will happen to Arsenal and Chelsea. For me, they were never out so why should people be surprised they are now in? A lot of teams are in whatever you call the title race, and that is how it should be.”

2018-19 marks the first top-flight division season in 33 years where the top three clubs have amassed over 40 points before Christmas.

Liverpool take on Newcastle United on Wednesday at Anfield and will hope to extend their lead over City and the rest.
