Mauricio Pochettino will have £150m to spend when he looks to spruce up his squad in the summer. Spurs did not buy a single player in last summer’s transfer window, and Pochettino will hope that the same doesn’t happen this time.
A major reason for that was the construction of the club’s new stadium. More than £1billion was spent on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which now stands where White Hart Lane stood in all its glory. Numerous players are likely to leave the club this summer, which will further increase his cash kitty for the summer.
Mousa Dembele left in January, and some others could follow suit. Kieran Trippier could be on his way out, as it is not clear whether he is in Pochettino’s plans. Christian Eriksen also has some doubt surrounding his future. The Dane has not signed a new contract yet, and other top clubs are circling for the attacking midfielder.
The likes of Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose could also leave. Pochettino has a number of areas where he could strengthen, but some of them are the priorities. Spurs are in the Champions League semi-finals, and summer spending is necessary to continue that level of success.
