The 4 Flying Indian Women clinch 4×400 Asian Games Gold!

India’s 4x400m women’s relay team today clinched its fifth consecutive gold medal in the Asian Games here to maintain a remarkable domination in this event showing the dominance of Indian athletes.

The Indian women’s quartet of Hima Das, M R Poovamma, Saritaben Gayakwad and Vismaya Velluva Koroth ran 3 minutes and 28.72 seconds to claim the gold.

Bahrain (3:30.61) and Vietnam (3:33.23) took the silver and bronze respectively. India has been winning Gold in this event ever since 2002 edition of the Asian Games.

The Indian women’s quartet of Hima Das, M R Poovamma, Saritaben Gayakwad and Vismaya Velluva Koroth ran 3 minutes and 28.72 seconds to claim the gold.

Hima Das started the first run and gave India the very much needed lead in the first lap, then MR Poovamma took the baton from the Assamese lady and kept up the lead while the rest of the runner also did fairly well to keep up that lead.

Congratulations messages started pouring in for the team as public figures from all spectrums took to Twitter to greet the champions.
